Our ultimate style-envy award goes to 12 Years a Slave
Actress Lupita Nyong’o, who dazzled the red carpet at the Oscars last night.
Parading in Prada, Lupita starred an elegant, elongated v neckline, floating to
the floor in powder-blue pleats, synched in at the waist of her slim-lined
figure. The icey-blue hue shone against her dark skin tone, looking absolutely
ravishing.
Yet what really completed the look was the use of her subtle
accessory. One that is rarely seen gracing its presents on the red carpet, and
one that’s rarely seen past the age of 8…the headband.
Although Lupita won the best supporting actress, we think
her crown should definitely win best supporting accessory. The Fred Leighton
diamond and gold headband added that extra sparkle to her outfit, complimenting
her finer jewellery.
This charming look got us all wanting in on the act, so
here are my 8 favourite headbands of the moment:
1. The Black River Island crown (£25) is perfect for glamming
up an evening look.
2. The Topshop flower band (£12.50) is great for a
sophisticated, Gatsby-esque look.
3. Definitely one to save up for, or maybe just dream about,
the Valentino nude studded headband (£135) can be worn with any outfit, a
timeless piece.
4. Add some sparkle to your hair on a budget with this
shimmering green, bow headband from Topshop (£6).
5. A statement bow with a pop of colour added to a delicate
silver band, the Eugenia Kim headband (£235) - Let’s hope to find a Primark
replica in the near future!
6. Gemmed headbands will make your hair look super
pretty with a modern twist, both of which are from Topshop.
7. The orange hue band is £23.
8. And lastly, the pink diamante band is at a sale price of £17 reduced to £7, you can’t go wrong!
